Shelley Binion, Catering Manager

April 30, 2009 by Mansion Admin

shelley-bioCertified Wedding Planner Shelley Binion fell into a career in hospitality and social event planning in a very unexpected way – while serving in the United States Air Force. While stationed at Andrews Air Force Base in Washington, D.C., Ms. Binion’s talents were promptly recognized and she was assigned the duty of coordinating functions for national and international dignitaries and heads of state. It was in the Air Force that she learned attention to detail and became an expert at recognizing the needs of distinctive guests.

After the Air Force, Ms. Binion spent the next 10 years as an event planner with an international four-star hotelier, where she was assigned to handle celebrities and high-profile guests. This position sealed her passion for social event and wedding planning, and she became a Certified Wedding Planner. Now, at The Mansion, each of Ms. Binion’s brides and clients are treated like celebrities.

What’s your favorite movie? It’s a Wonderful Life

What would you choose as your last meal? I’d just want one long, continuous buffet!

What was your first job? I trained for two years to become a firefighter. Little did I know that I’d be putting out fires of a different kind for the rest of my career!

What’s currently on your nightstand? ELLE Magazine

What’s on your iPod? ZZ Top, George Straight, Lady GaGa and Jars of Clay

What are your favorite events to plan? The pomp, circumstance and trials of planning any event for royalty can’t be beat.

What do you do when you’re not making a bride’s day? I spend time with my two little Yorkies – Louis Vuitton and Tag Hauer.
